Olga Kornievskaia reports:

Problem: linux client mounting linux server using rc4-hmac-md5
enctype. gssd fails with create a context after receiving a reply from
the server.

Diagnose: putting printout statements in the server kernel and
kerberos libraries revealed that client and server derived different
integrity keys.

Server kernel code was at fault due the the commit

Trond: The problem is that since it relies on virt_to_page(), you cannot
call sg_set_buf() for data in the const section.

7ebb931598 NFS: use secinfo when crossing mountpoints

Fix up conflicts in fs/nfsd/vfs.c with the vfs-scale work.  The
vfs-scale work touched some msnfs cases, and this merge removes support
for that entirely, so the conflict was trivial to resolve.

bf2695516d SUNRPC: New xdr_streams XDR decoder API
Now that all client-side XDR decoder routines use xdr_streams, there
should be no need to support the legacy calling sequence [rpc_rqst *,
__be32 *, RPC res *] anywhere.  We can construct an xdr_stream in the
generic RPC code, instead of in each decoder function.

This is a refactoring change.  It should not cause different behavior.

9f06c719f4 SUNRPC: New xdr_streams XDR encoder API
Now that all client-side XDR encoder routines use xdr_streams, there
should be no need to support the legacy calling sequence [rpc_rqst *,
__be32 *, RPC arg *] anywhere.  We can construct an xdr_stream in the
generic RPC code, instead of in each encoder function.

Also, all the client-side encoder functions return 0 now, making a
return value superfluous.  Take this opportunity to convert them to
return void instead.

This is a refactoring change.  It should not cause different behavior.

1e7af1b806 nfsd4: remove spkm3
Unfortunately, spkm3 never got very far; while interoperability with one
other implementation was demonstrated at some point, problems were found
with the spec that were deemed not worth fixing.

The kernel code is useless on its own without nfs-utils patches which
were never merged into nfs-utils, and were only ever available from
citi.umich.edu.  They appear not to have been updated since 2005.

Therefore it seems safe to assume that this code has no users, and never
will.

1ebede86b8 sunrpc: close connection when a request is irretrievably lost.
If we drop a request in the sunrpc layer, either due kmalloc failure,
or due to a cache miss when we could not queue the request for later
replay, then close the connection to encourage the client to retry sooner.

Note that if the drop happens in the NFS layer, NFSERR_JUKEBOX
(aka NFS4ERR_DELAY) is returned to guide the client concerning
replay.

5a67657a2e SUNRPC: Fix race corrupting rpc upcall
If rpc_queue_upcall() adds a new upcall to the rpci->pipe list just
after rpc_pipe_release calls rpc_purge_list(), but before it calls
gss_pipe_release (as rpci->ops->release_pipe(inode)), then the latter
will free a message without deleting it from the rpci->pipe list.

We will be left with a freed object on the rpc->pipe list.  Most
frequent symptoms are kernel crashes in rpc.gssd system calls on the
pipe in question.

This will allow us to save the original generic cred in rpc_message, so
that if we migrate from one server to another, we can generate a new bound
cred without having to punt back to the NFS layer.

Fix up various conflicts with pcmcia tree drivers/net/

5af46547ec gss_krb5: Use confounder length in wrap code
All encryption types use a confounder at the beginning of the
wrap token.  In all encryption types except arcfour-hmac, the
confounder is the same as the blocksize.  arcfour-hmac has a
blocksize of one, but uses an eight byte confounder.

Add an entry to the crypto framework definitions for the
confounder length and change the wrap/unwrap code to use
the confounder length rather than assuming it is always
the blocksize.

683ac6656c gss_krb5: Add upcall info indicating supported kerberos enctypes
The text based upcall now indicates which Kerberos encryption types are
supported by the kernel rpcsecgss code.  This is used by gssd to
determine which encryption types it should attempt to negotiate
when creating a context with a server.

The server principal's database and keytab encryption types are
what limits what it should negotiate.  Therefore, its keytab
should be created with only the enctypes listed by this file.

Currently we support des-cbc-crc, des-cbc-md4 and des-cbc-md5

in a new format.  This new format includes the information needed to

e1f6c07b11 gss_krb5: add ability to have a keyed checksum (hmac)
Encryption types besides DES may use a keyed checksum (hmac).
Modify the make_checksum() function to allow for a key
and take care of enctype-specific processing such as truncating
the resulting hash.

725f2865d4 gss_krb5: Introduce encryption type framework
Make the client and server code consistent regarding the extra buffer
space made available for the auth code when wrapping data.

Add some comments/documentation about the available buffer space
in the xdr_buf head and tail when gss_wrap is called.

Add a compile-time check to make sure we are not exceeding the available
buffer space.

Add a central function to shift head data.

5a0e3ad6af include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h
percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files.  percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.

percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed.  Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability.  As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.

The script does the followings.

* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
  only the necessary includes are there.  ie. if only gfp is used,
  gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.

* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
  blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
  to its surrounding.  It's put in the include block which contains
  core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
  alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
  doesn't seem to be any matching order.

* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
  because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
  an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
  file.

The conversion was done in the following steps.

1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
   over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
   and ~3000 slab.h inclusions.  The script emitted errors for ~400
   files.

2. Each error was manually checked.  Some didn't need the inclusion,
   some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
   embedding .c file was more appropriate for others.  This step added
   inclusions to around 150 files.

3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
   from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.

4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
   e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
   APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.

5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
   editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
   files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell.  Most gfp.h
   inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
   wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros.  Each
   slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
   necessary.

6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.

7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
   were fixed.  CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
   distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
   more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
   build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).

   * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
   * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * ia64 SMP allmodconfig
   * s390 SMP allmodconfig
   * alpha SMP allmodconfig
   * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig

8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
   a separate patch and serve as bisection point.

Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

dc5ddce956 sunrpc: parse and return errors reported by gssd
The kernel currently ignores any error code sent by gssd and always
considers it to be -EACCES. In order to better handle the situation of
an expired KRB5 TGT, the kernel needs to be able to parse and deal with
the errors that gssd sends. Aside from -EACCES the only error we care
about is -EKEYEXPIRED, which we're using to indicate that the upper
layers should retry the call a little later.

To maintain backward compatibility with older gssd's, any error other
than -EKEYEXPIRED is interpreted as -EACCES.

486bad2e40 sunrpc: on successful gss error pipe write, don't return error
When handling the gssd downcall, the kernel should distinguish between a
successful downcall that contains an error code and a failed downcall
(i.e. where the parsing failed or some other sort of problem occurred).

In the former case, gss_pipe_downcall should be returning the number of
bytes written to the pipe instead of an error. In the event of other
errors, we generally want the initiating task to retry the upcall so
we set msg.errno to -EAGAIN. An unexpected error code here is a bug
however, so BUG() in that case.

eac81736e6 sunrpc: reply AUTH_BADCRED to RPCSEC_GSS with unknown service
When an RPC message is received with RPCSEC_GSS with an unknown service
(not RPC_GSS_SVC_NONE, RPC_GSS_SVC_INTEGRITY, or RPC_GSS_SVC_PRIVACY),
svcauth_gss_accept() returns AUTH_BADCRED, but svcauth_gss_release()
subsequently drops the response entirely, discarding the error.

Fix that so the AUTH_BADCRED error is returned to the client.

bc74b4f5e6 SUNRPC: Allow the cache_detail to specify alternative upcall mechanisms
For events that are rare, such as referral DNS lookups, it makes limited
sense to have a daemon constantly listening for upcalls on a channel. An
alternative in those cases might simply be to run the app that fills the
cache using call_usermodehelper_exec() and friends.

The following patch allows the cache_detail to specify alternative upcall
mechanisms for these particular cases.

2efef7080f rpc: add service field to new upcall
This patch extends the new upcall with a "service" field that currently
can have 2 values: "*" or "nfs". These values specify matching rules for
principals in the keytab file. The "*" means that gssd is allowed to use
"root", "nfs", or "host" keytab entries while the other option requires
"nfs".

Restricting gssd to use the "nfs" principal is needed for when the
server performs a callback to the client.  The server in this case has
to authenticate itself as an "nfs" principal.

We also need "service" field to distiguish between two client-side cases
both currently using a uid of 0: the case of regular file access by the
root user, and the case of state-management calls (such as setclientid)
which should use a keytab for authentication.  (And the upcall should
fail if an appropriate principal can't be found.)

Two principals are involved in krb5 authentication: the target, who we
authenticate *to* (normally the name of the server, like
nfs/server.citi.umich.edu@CITI.UMICH.EDU), and the source, we we
authenticate *as* (normally a user, like bfields@UMICH.EDU)

In the case of NFSv4 callbacks, the target of the callback should be the
source of the client's setclientid call, and the source should be the
nfs server's own principal.

Therefore we allow svcgssd to pass down the name of the principal that
just authenticated, so that on setclientid we can store that principal
name with the new client, to be used later on callbacks.

For now, though, it only keeps track of whether any pipe is open or not;

(Minor digression: note this waits only for the very first open of any
pipe, not for the first open of a pipe for a given auth; thus we still

6dcd3926b2 sunrpc: fix code that makes auth_gss send destroy_cred message (try #2)
There's a bit of a chicken and egg problem when it comes to destroying
auth_gss credentials. When we destroy the last instance of a GSSAPI RPC
credential, we should send a NULL RPC call with a GSS procedure of
RPCSEC_GSS_DESTROY to hint to the server that it can destroy those
creds.

This isn't happening because we're setting clearing the uptodate bit on
the credentials and then setting the operations to the gss_nullops. When
we go to do the RPC call, we try to refresh the creds. That fails with
-EACCES and the call fails.

Fix this by not clearing the UPTODATE bit for the credentials and adding
a new crdestroy op for gss_nullops that just tears down the cred without
trying to destroy the context.

The only difference between this patch and the first one is the removal
of some minor formatting deltas.

88a9fe8cae SUNRPC: Remove the last remnant of the BKL...
Somehow, this escaped the previous purge. There should be no need to keep
any extra locks in the XDR callbacks.

The NFS client XDR code only writes into private objects, whereas all reads
of shared objects are confined to fields that do not change, such as
filehandles...

Ditto for lockd, the NFSv2/v3 client mount code, and rpcbind.

The nfsd XDR code may require the BKL, but since it does a synchronous RPC
call from a thread that already holds the lock, that issue is moot.

b620754bfe svcrpc: fix handling of garbage args
To return garbage_args, the accept_stat must be 0, and we must have a
verifier.  So we shouldn't be resetting the write pointer as we reject
the call.

Also, we must add the two placeholder words here regardless of success
of the unwrap, to ensure the output buffer is left in a consistent state
for svcauth_gss_release().

This fixes a BUG() in svcauth_gss.c:svcauth_gss_release().

d00953a53e gss_krb5: create a define for token header size and clean up ptr location
cleanup:
Document token header size with a #define instead of open-coding it.

Don't needlessly increment "ptr" past the beginning of the header
which makes the values passed to functions more understandable and
eliminates the need for extra "krb5_hdr" pointer.

Clean up some intersecting  white-space issues flagged by checkpatch.pl.

This leaves the checksum length hard-coded at 8 for DES.  A later patch
cleans that up.

4ab4b0bedd sunrpc: make token header values less confusing
g_make_token_header() and g_token_size() add two too many, and
therefore their callers pass in "(logical_value - 2)" rather
than "logical_value" as hard-coded values which causes confusion.

This dates back to the original g_make_token_header which took an
optional token type (token_id) value and added it to the token.
This was removed, but the routine always adds room for the token_id
rather than not.

cd019f7517 SUNRPC: Don't change the RPCSEC_GSS context on a credential that is in use
When a server rejects our credential with an AUTH_REJECTEDCRED or similar,
we need to refresh the credential and then retry the request.
However, we do want to allow any requests that are in flight to finish
executing, so that we can at least attempt to process the replies that
depend on this instance of the credential.

The solution is to ensure that gss_refresh() looks up an entirely new
RPCSEC_GSS credential instead of attempting to create a context for the
existing invalid credential.

080a1f148d SUNRPC: Don't attempt to destroy expired RPCSEC_GSS credentials..
..and always destroy using a 'soft' RPC call. Destroying GSS credentials
isn't mandatory; the server can always cope with a few credentials not
getting destroyed in a timely fashion.

This actually fixes a hang situation. Basically, some servers will decide
that the client is crazy if it tries to destroy an RPC context for which
they have sent an RPCSEC_GSS_CREDPROBLEM, and so will refuse to talk to it
for a while.
The regression therefor probably was introduced by commit
0df7fb74fb.

5d00837b90 SUNRPC: Run rpc timeout functions as callbacks instead of in softirqs
An audit of the current RPC timeout functions shows that they don't really
ever need to run in the softirq context. As long as the softirq is
able to signal that the wakeup is due to a timeout (which it can do by
setting task->tk_status to -ETIMEDOUT) then the callback functions can just
run as standard task->tk_callback functions (in the rpciod/process
context).

The only possible border-line case would be xprt_timer() for the case of
UDP, when the callback is used to reduce the size of the transport
congestion window. In testing, however, the effect of moving that update
to a callback would appear to be minor.

7df089952f SUNRPC: Fix use of copy_to_user() in gss_pipe_upcall()
The gss_pipe_upcall() function expects the copy_to_user() function to
return a negative error value if the call fails, but copy_to_user()
returns an unsigned long number of bytes that couldn't be copied.

Can rpc_pipefs actually retry a partially completed upcall read?  If
not, then gss_pipe_upcall() should punt any partial read, just like the
upcall logic in net/sunrpc/cache.c.

Return an error from gss_import_sec_context_kerberos if the
negotiated context contains encryption or checksum types not

ffc40f5692 sunrpc: gss_pipe_downcall(), don't assume all errors are transient
Instead of mapping all errors except EACCES to EAGAIN, map all errors
except EAGAIN to EACCES.

An example is user-land negotiating a Kerberos context with an encryption
type that is not supported by the kernel code.  (This can happen due to
mis-configuration or a bug in the Kerberos code that does not honor our
request to limit the encryption types negotiated.)  This failure is not
transient, and returning EAGAIN causes mount to continuously retry rather
than giving up.

c46f2334c8 [SG] Get rid of __sg_mark_end()
sg_mark_end() overwrites the page_link information, but all users want
__sg_mark_end() behaviour where we just set the end bit. That is the most
natural way to use the sg list, since you'll fill it in and then mark the
end point.

So change sg_mark_end() to only set the termination bit. Add a sg_magic
debug check as well, and clear a chain pointer if it is set.

51c739d1f4 [NET]: Fix incorrect sg_mark_end() calls.
This fixes scatterlist corruptions added by

	commit 68e3f5dd4d
	[CRYPTO] users: Fix up scatterlist conversion errors

The issue is that the code calls sg_mark_end() which clobbers the
sg_page() pointer of the final scatterlist entry.

The first part fo the fix makes skb_to_sgvec() do __sg_mark_end().

After considering all skb_to_sgvec() call sites the most correct
solution is to call __sg_mark_end() in skb_to_sgvec() since that is
what all of the callers would end up doing anyways.

I suspect this might have fixed some problems in virtio_net which is
the sole non-crypto user of skb_to_sgvec().

Other similar sg_mark_end() cases were converted over to
__sg_mark_end() as well.

Arguably sg_mark_end() is a poorly named function because it doesn't
just "mark", it clears out the page pointer as a side effect, which is
what led to these bugs in the first place.

The one remaining plain sg_mark_end() call is in scsi_alloc_sgtable()
and arguably it could be converted to __sg_mark_end() if only so that
we can delete this confusing interface from linux/scatterlist.h

21fcd02be3 svcgss: move init code into separate function
We've let svcauth_gss_accept() get much too long and hairy.  The
RPC_GSS_PROC_INIT and RPC_GSS_PROC_CONTINUE_INIT cases share very little
with the other cases, so it's very natural to split them off into a
separate function.

This will also nicely isolate the piece of code we need to parametrize
to authenticating gss-protected NFSv4 callbacks on behalf of the NFS
client.

3ab4d8b121 knfsd: nfsd: set rq_client to ip-address-determined-domain
We want it to be possible for users to restrict exports both by IP address and
by pseudoflavor.  The pseudoflavor information has previously been passed
using special auth_domains stored in the rq_client field.  After the preceding
patch that stored the pseudoflavor in rq_pflavor, that's now superfluous; so
now we use rq_client for the ip information, as auth_null and auth_unix do.

However, we keep around the special auth_domain in the rq_gssclient field for
backwards compatibility purposes, so we can still do upcalls using the old
"gss/pseudoflavor" auth_domain if upcalls using the unix domain to give us an
appropriate export.  This allows us to continue supporting old mountd.

In fact, for this first patch, we always use the "gss/pseudoflavor"
auth_domain (and only it) if it is available; thus rq_client is ignored in the
auth_gss case, and this patch on its own makes no change in behavior; that
will be left to later patches.

Note on idmap: I'm almost tempted to just replace the auth_domain in the idmap
upcall by a dummy value--no version of idmapd has ever used it, and it's
unlikely anyone really wants to perform idmapping differently depending on the
where the client is (they may want to perform *credential* mapping
differently, but that's a different matter--the idmapper just handles id's
used in getattr and setattr).  But I'm updating the idmapd code anyway, just
out of general backwards-compatibility paranoia.

clearing it out.

Also move the call to destroy the credcache in gss_destroy() to come before
the rpc upcall pipe is unlinked.

It used to be possible for an rpc.gssd daemon to stuff the RPC credential
cache for any rpc client simply by creating RPCSEC_GSS contexts and then
doing downcalls. In practice, no daemons ever made use of this feature.

Remove this feature now, since it will be impossible to figure out which
mechanism a given context actually matches if we enable more
than one gss mechanism to use the same upcall pipe.

54f9247b3f knfsd: fix resource leak resulting in module refcount leak for rpcsec_gss_krb5.ko
I have been investigating a module reference count leak on the server for
rpcsec_gss_krb5.ko.  It turns out the problem is a reference count leak for
the security context in net/sunrpc/auth_gss/svcauth_gss.c.

The problem is that gss_write_init_verf() calls gss_svc_searchbyctx() which
does a rsc_lookup() but never releases the reference to the context.  There is
another issue that rpc.svcgssd sets an "end of time" expiration for the
context

By adding a cache_put() call in gss_svc_searchbyctx(), and setting an
expiration timeout in the downcall, cache_clean() does clean up the context
and the module reference count now goes to zero after unmount.

I also verified that if the context expires and then the client makes a new
request, a new context is established.

Here is the patch to fix the kernel, I will start a separate thread to discuss
what expiration time should be set by rpc.svcgssd.

e0bb89ef03 [PATCH] knfsd: nfsd: don't drop silently on upcall deferral
To avoid tying up server threads when nfsd makes an upcall (to mountd, to get
export options, to idmapd, for nfsv4 name<->id mapping, etc.), we temporarily
"drop" the request and save enough information so that we can revisit it
later.

Certain failures during the deferral process can cause us to really drop the
request and never revisit it.

This is often less than ideal, and is unacceptable in the NFSv4 case--rfc 3530
forbids the server from dropping a request without also closing the
connection.

As a first step, we modify the deferral code to return -ETIMEDOUT (which is
translated to nfserr_jukebox in the v3 and v4 cases, and remains a drop in the
v2 case).

The sealalg is checked in several places, giving the impression it could be
either SEAL_ALG_NONE or SEAL_ALG_DES.  But in fact SEAL_ALG_NONE seems to
be sufficient only for making mic's, and all the contexts we get must be
capable of wrapping as well.  So the sealalg must be SEAL_ALG_DES.  As
with signalg, just check for the right value on the downcall and ignore it
otherwise.  Similarly, tighten expectations for the sealalg on incoming
tokens, in case we do support other values eventually.

adeb8133dd rpc: spkm3 update
This updates the spkm3 code to bring it up to date with our current
understanding of the spkm3 spec.

In doing so, we're changing the downcall format used by gssd in the spkm3 case,
which will cause an incompatilibity with old userland spkm3 support.  Since the
old code a) didn't implement the protocol correctly, and b) was never
distributed except in the form of some experimental patches from the citi web
site, we're assuming this is OK.

We do detect the old downcall format and print warning (and fail).  We also
include a version number in the new downcall format, to be used in the
future in case any further change is required.

In some more detail:

	- fix integrity support
	- removed dependency on NIDs. instead OIDs are used
	- known OID values for algorithms added.
	- fixed some context fields and types

To check the reply_stat in _release, we need a pointer to before (rather than
after) the verifier, so modify body_start appropriately.

4452435948 [PATCH] knfsd: Replace two page lists in struct svc_rqst with one
We are planning to increase RPCSVC_MAXPAGES from about 8 to about 256.  This
means we need to be a bit careful about arrays of size RPCSVC_MAXPAGES.

struct svc_rqst contains two such arrays.  However the there are never more
that RPCSVC_MAXPAGES pages in the two arrays together, so only one array is
needed.

The two arrays are for the pages holding the request, and the pages holding
the reply.  Instead of two arrays, we can simply keep an index into where the
first reply page is.

This patch also removes a number of small inline functions that probably
server to obscure what is going on rather than clarify it, and opencode the
needed functionality.

Also remove the 'rq_restailpage' variable as it is *always* 0.  i.e.  if the
response 'xdr' structure has a non-empty tail it is always in the same pages
as the head.

 check counters are initilised and incr properly
 check for consistant usage of ++ etc
 maybe extra some inlines for common approach
 general review
