commit 1a96571d (Enable 32 bit flash support for iMX21ADS board) aimed to
enable 32 bit flash support, but all it did was to delete an unset option.

Building omap_devices should only be done at init time, and since
omap_device_build() is using early_platform calls which are also
__init, this ensures that omap_device isn't trying to use functions
that disappear.

Now that omap hsmmc init is split into two functions, it's safe
to mark omap_hsmmc_init and omap_mux related functions to __init.
This basically reverts the following fixes for the case where
TWL was compiled as a module:

If we don't have ARCH_OMAP2, 3 or 4 selected randconfig will always
fail with multiple errors as the CPU and MACHINE are not set.
Fix this by changing arch/arm/Makefile to build mach-omap2 based on
ARCH_OMAP2PLUS. And let's introduce SOC_OMAP and SOC_OMAP_NOOP that
allow randconfig to generate buildable .config files.
Note that we can also remove few uncecssary ARCH_OMAP2PLUS lines
as they are all within if ARCH_OMAP2PLUS block.

Fix the bit field width information for the IPSR4 register
in the r8a7779 pin function controller (PFC).
Without this fix the Marzen board fails to receive data
over the serial console due to misconfigured pin function

During kernel init, we reset all IP blocks on the OMAP that we can,
even if there is no driver compiled for that IP block. Unlike most IP
blocks, the I2C block requires some extra programming for this to
work. This reset code is incorrectly omitted when the I2C driver is
deselected. In this circumstance, the build breaks. Fix by compiling
the I2C reset code unconditionally.

This patch also (at the request of the list) fixes the fact that
ARM has both LE and BE versions however the audit code was called as if
it was always BE. If audit userspace were to try to interpret the bits
it got from a LE system it would obviously do so incorrectly. Fix this
by using the right arch flag on the right system.

The patch series to re-factor PCI's 'latency timer' setup (re:

Otherwise omap_device_build() and omap_mux related functions
can't be marked as __init when twl is build as a module.
If a board is using GPIO pins or regulators configured by an
external chip, such as TWL PMIC on I2C bus, the board must
mark those MMC controllers as deferred. Additionally both
omap_hsmmc_init() and omap_hsmmc_late_init() must be called
by the board.
For MMC controllers using internal GPIO pins for card
detect and regulators the slots don't need to be marked
deferred. In this case calling omap_hsmmc_init() is sufficient.
Only mark the MMC slots using gpio_cd or gpio_wd as deferred
as noted by Igor Grinberg <grinberg@compulab.co.il>.
Note that this patch does not change the behaviour for
board-4430sdp.c board-omap4panda.c. These boards wrongly
rely on the omap_hsmmc.c init function callback to configure
the PMIC GPIO interrupt lines on external chip. If the PMIC
interrupt lines are not configured during init, they will
fail.

Expose omap_device_{alloc, delete, register} so we can use them outside
of omap_device.c.
This approach allows users, which need to manipulate an archdata member
of a device before it is registered, to do so. This is also useful
for users who have their devices created very early so they can be used
at ->reserve() time to reserve CMA memory.
The immediate use case for this is to set the private iommu archdata
member, which binds a device to its associated iommu controller.
This way, generic code will be able to attach omap devices to their
iommus, without calling any omap-specific API.
With this in hand, we can further clean the existing mainline OMAP iommu
driver and its mainline users, and focus on generic IOMMU approaches
for future users (rpmsg/remoteproc and the upcoming generic DMA API).
This patch is still considered an interim solution until DT fully materializes
for omap; at that point, this functionality will be removed as DT will
take care of creating the devices and configuring them correctly.
Tested on OMAP4 with a generic rpmsg/remoteproc that doesn't use any
omap-specific IOMMU API anymore.

On some omaps twl4030_gpio has a callback to try to initialize
the MMC controller. If twl4030_gpio is compiled as a module,
bad things can happen because the callback function starts
calling functions that are supposed to be marked __init:

omap2_hsmmc_init into two functions.

irq_domain_add_simple() was a stop-gap measure until complete irq_domain
support was complete. This patch removes the irq_domain_add_simple()
interface.
This patch also drops the explicit irq_domain initialization performed
by the mach-versatile code because the versatile interrupt controller
already has irq_domain support built into it. This was a bug that was
hanging around quietly for a while, but with the full irq_domain which
actually verifies that irq_domain ranges are available it would cause
the registration to fail and the system wouldn't boot.

This patch removes the simplistic implementation of irq_domains and enables
the powerpc infrastructure for all irq_domain users. The powerpc
infrastructure includes support for complex mappings between Linux and
hardware irq numbers, and can manage allocation of irq_descs.
This patch also converts the few users of irq_domain_add()/irq_domain_del()
to call irq_domain_add_legacy() instead.

Bootup with lockdep enabled has been broken on v7 since b46c0f7465
("ARM: 7321/1: cache-v7: Disable preemption when reading CCSIDR").
This is because v7_setup (which is called very early during boot) calls
v7_flush_dcache_all, and the save_and_disable_irqs added by that patch
ends up attempting to call into lockdep C code (trace_hardirqs_off())
when we are in no position to execute it (no stack, MMU off).
Fix this by using a notrace variant of save_and_disable_irqs. The code
already uses the notrace variant of restore_irqs.

Part of the series to unify the irq remapping mechanisms in the
kernel. A follow up patch will copy the powerpc implementation into
kernel/irq/irqdomain.c, which will be a lot easier if the structures
are identical.
Where they differ, I've chose to use the powerpc names since there is
a lot more code using those names.

when commit 3528c58 (OMAP: omap_device: when
building return platform_device instead of

instead of a omap_device pointer when building
a device, it failed to convert all users introducing
a compile warning when building

arm_memblock_steal() is not suppose to be used outside ->reserve callback.
OMAP barrier errata code was using it outside reserve callback and hence
it was broken.
Move the allocation as part of ->reserve callback to fix the it.

OMAP4 cpuidle driver is reporting the state requested by governor
rather than the actually attempted one.
This is obviously misleading sysfs and powertop cpuidle statistics.
Fix it so that stats are reported correctly.

This set of changes are fixing various section mismatch warnings which
look to be completely valid. Primerily, those which are fixed are those
which can cause oopses by manipulation of driver binding via sysfs. For
example: calling code marked __init from driver probe __devinit
functions.
Some of these changes will be reworked at the next merge window when the
underlying reasons are sorted out. In the mean time, I think it's
important to have this fixed for correctness.
Also included in this set are fixes to various error messages in OMAP -
including making them gramatically correct, fixing a few spelling
errors, and more importantly, making them greppable by unwrapping them.
Tony Lindgren has acked all these patches, put them out for testing a
week ago, and I've tested them on the platforms I have.

It's useful to print the error code when a called function fails so a
diagnosis of why it failed is possible. In this case, it fails because
we try to register some data for the wl12xx driver, but as the driver
is not configured, a stub function is used which simply returns -ENOSYS.
Let's do the simple thing for -rc and print the error code.
Also, the return code from platform_register_device() at each of these
sites was not being checked. Add some checking, and again print the
error code.
This should be fixed properly for the next merge window so we don't
issue error messages merely because a driver is not configured.

While trying to debug my OMAP platforms, they emitted this message:
omap_hwmod: %s: enabled state can only be entered from initialized, idle, or disabled state
The following backtrace said it was from a function called '_enable',
which didn't provide much clue. Grepping didn't find it either.
The message is wrapped, so unwrap the message so grep can find it. Do
the same for three other messages in this file.

The function omap_secondary_startup() references

Found by review.
omap4_sdp4430_wifi_mux_init() is called by an __init marked function,
and only calls omap_mux_init_gpio() and omap_mux_init_signal() which
are both also an __init marked functions.
The only reason this doesn't issue a warning is because the compiler
inlines omap4_sdp4430_wifi_mux_init() into omap4_sdp4430_wifi_init().
So, lets add the __init annotation to ensure this remains safe should
the compiler choose not to inline.

On my OMAP4 platform, I'm getting this error message repeated several
times at boot:
omap_vc_i2c_init: I2C config for all channels must match.
omap_vc_i2c_init: I2C config for all channels must match.
This doesn't help identify what the problem is. Fix this message to
be more informative:
omap_vc_i2c_init: I2C config for vdd_iva does not match other channels (0).
omap_vc_i2c_init: I2C config for vdd_mpu does not match other channels (0).
This allows us to identify which voltage domains have a problem, and
what the I2C configuration state (a boolean, i2c_high_speed) setting
being used actually is.
From this we find that omap4_core_pmic has i2c_high_speed false, but
omap4_iva_pmic and omap4_mpu_pmic both have it set true.

While testing on my OMAP3430 platform, this error message was emitted:

Trying to find this message was difficult because it was wrapped across
several lines. It also mis-spells "required", doesn't read very well,
and has spaces lacking. Let's replace it with a more concise:

On OMAP2420-based systems, the PM code ignores the state of the UART
functional clocks when determining what idle state to enter. This
breaks the serial port now that the UART driver's clock behavior can
be controlled via the PM autosuspend timeout.
To fix, remove the special-case idle handling for the UARTs in the
OMAP2420/2430 PM idle code added by commit
4af4016c53 ("OMAP3: PM: UART: disable
clocks when idle and off-mode support").

The patch "ARM: orion: Consolidate USB platform setup code.", commit
4fcd3f374a broke USB on TS-7800 and
other orion5x boards, because the wrong type of PHY was being passed
to the EHCI driver in the platform data. Orion5x needs EHCI_PHY_ORION
and all the others want EHCI_PHY_NA.
Allow the mach- code to tell the generic plat-orion code which USB PHY
enum to place into the platform data.

Patchset "ARM: orion: Refactor the MPP code common in the orion
platform" broke at least Orion5x based platforms. These platforms have
pins configured as GPIO when the selector is not 0x0. However the
common code assumes the selector is always 0x0 for a GPIO lines. It
then ignores the GPIO bits in the MPP definitions, resulting in that
Orion5x machines cannot correctly configure there GPIO lines.
The Fix removes the assumption that the selector is always 0x0.
In order that none GPIO configurations are correctly blocked,
Kirkwood and mv78xx0 MPP definitions are corrected to only set the
GPIO bits for GPIO configurations.
This third version, which does not contain any whitespace changes,
and is rebased on v3.3-rc2.

This patch fixes the jiffies wrapping bug in clock.c.
It corrects the timeout computation based on jiffies, uses time_before() for
correct wrapping handling and replaces a binary "&" which should really be a
logical "&&" in a truth expression.

This patch fixes the mutex issue in clock.c, as done in Kevin Wells' original
driver update:
In some cases, the clock drivers could grab a mutex twice in an improper
context. This patch changes the mutex mechanism to a simple irq lock/unlock
mechanism and removes un-needed locks from some functions.

Prevent OMAP UARTs from going idle while they are still transferring
data in PIO mode. This works around an oversight in the OMAP UART
hardware present in OMAP34xx and earlier: an idle UART won't send a
wakeup when the TX FIFO threshold is reached. This causes long delays
during data transmission when the MPU powerdomain enters a low-power
mode. The MPU interrupt controller is not able to respond to
interrupts when it's in a low-power state, so the TX buffer is not
refilled until another wakeup event occurs.
This fix changes the erratum i291 DMA idle workaround. Rather than
toggling between force-idle and no-idle, it will toggle between
smart-idle and no-idle. The important part of the workaround is the
no-idle part, so this shouldn't result in any change in behavior.
This fix should work on all OMAP UARTs. Future patches intended for
the 3.4 merge window will make this workaround conditional on a
"feature" flag, and will use the OMAP36xx+ TX event wakeup support.

The ARM kernel uses undefined instructions to implement
BUG/BUG_ON(). This leads to problems where people don't read one
line above the Oops message and see the "kernel BUG at ..."
message and so they wrongly assume the kernel has hit an
undefined instruction.
Instead of printing:

This should prevent people from thinking the BUG_ON was an

armv7's flush_cache_all() flushes caches via set/way. To
determine the cache attributes (line size, number of sets,
etc.) the assembly first writes the CSSELR register to select a
cache level and then reads the CCSIDR register. The CSSELR register
is banked per-cpu and is used to determine which cache level CCSIDR
reads. If the task is migrated between when the CSSELR is written and
the CCSIDR is read the CCSIDR value may be for an unexpected cache
level (for example L1 instead of L2) and incorrect cache flushing
could occur.
Disable interrupts across the write and read so that the correct
cache attributes are read and used for the cache flushing
routine. We disable interrupts instead of disabling preemption
because the critical section is only 3 instructions and we want
to call v7_dcache_flush_all from __v7_setup which doesn't have a
full kernel stack with a struct thread_info.
This fixes a problem we see in scm_call() when flush_cache_all()
is called from preemptible context and sometimes the L2 cache is
not properly flushed out.

With an admittedly exotic choice of configuration options
(CC_OPTIMIZE_FOR_SIZE, THUMB2, some other size-minimizing ones)
and compiler, the proc_info table can end up being misaligned,
and the kernel being unbootable (Error: unrecognized/unsupported
processor variant).
Forcing the alignement to 4 bytes in the linker script fixes the
issue.

This PMC driver is enough to parse the nvidia,invert-interrupt property
from device tree, and configure the PMC's to honor that.
In the future, this file could expand to centralize all other PMC accesses
within the mach-tegra code.

Commit d91eeb0 "ARM: tegra: emc: device tree support" modified the EMC
driver to create an EMC table from existing register settings when none
was provided through platform data or device tree. This code wrote the
wrong clock rate into the table; the actual rate in Hz, rather than the
expected half-rate in KHz. This caused the BUG_ON in
tegra2_emc_clk_round_rate() to fire, since that enormous rate could not
be generated.

Enhance the driver to dynamically allocate the base IRQ number, and
create an IRQ domain for itself. The use of an IRQ domain ensures that
any device tree node interrupts properties are correctly parsed.
Describe interrupt-related properties in the device tree binding docs,
and the contents of "child" node interrupts property.
Update tegra*.dtsi to specify the required interrupt-related properties.
Finally, remove the definition of TEGRA_GPIO_TO_IRQ; this macro no longer
gives correct results since the IRQ numbers for GPIOs are dynamically
allocated.

uncompress.h now saves the selected UART's physical address in Tegra's
IRAM, along with a cookie to indicate validity.
The first time it's run, macro addruart in debug-macro.S looks for this
cookie, and if it's present, uses the UART address stored there. If not,
the static value TEGRA_DEBUG_UART_BASE is used, as was previous behaviour.
The static behaviour will thus be used when not booting using a zImage.
This work was inspired by work by Doug Anderson <dianders@chromium.org>;
see http://lkml.org/lkml/2011/9/26/284. However, this patch relies on
the data passing describe above, rather than duplicating the UART
selection logic in debug-macro.S; the latest selection logic is more
complex due to the need to check reset/clock bits too.

With this change we automatically detect which UART to use for
for printing during decompression. The detection involves coordination
with the bootloader: it's expected that the bootloader will leave a
'D' (for [D]ebug) in the UART scratchpad register for whichever UART we
should use for debugging.
If we don't find any such UART, we fall back to the UART that was
specified during config time: CONFIG_TEGRA_DEBUG_UART_XXX.
As a side effect of this change, uncompress debug messages will work
if you've specified CONFIG_TEGRA_DEBUG_UART_NONE, provided the
bootloader obeys the protocol.
This change is in line with what is documented in
Documentation/arm/Booting.
Other approaches considered:
* Hardcode based on machine ID (as many other ARM boards do).
OK, but nice to not have yet another place to add per-board
code. Better to have bootloader parse device tree and pass us
this info.
* Check for TXE bit (like SA1110). Nice (and doesn't require
a bootloader change), but a little less explicit. Also: if
bootloader (for some reason) uses another UART, it needs to
remember to turn it off before jumping to the kernel or we may
print to it. NOTE: adapting this patch to check TXE too would
be easy if desired.

On Tegra20, the UART clock runs at 216MHz, whereas on Tegra30 it runs at
408MHz. Modify arch_decomp_setup() to detect Tegra20-vs-Tegra30 at run-
time, and program the correct divisor.
This makes uncompressor messages work correctly on Tegra30. This also
fixes early printk, assuming zImage is used and this setup code runs.
v2: Use CHIPID register to differentiate between chips, rather than a
GIC register. This should be more future-proof. Volatile is required
to prevent the compiler transforming the 32-bit apb_misc register read
into an 8-bit read of address 1 higher, since the HW only supports 32-
bit accesses, and will hang on an 8-bit access.

Tegra2 hangs if APB registers are accessed from the cpu during an
apb dma operation. The workaround is to use apb dma to read/write the
registers instead.
There is a dependency loop between fuses, clocks, and APBDMA. If dma
is enabled, fuse reads must go through APBDMA to avoid corruption due
to a hw bug. APBDMA requires a clock to be enabled. Clocks must read
a fuse to determine allowable cpu frequencies.
Separate out the fuse DMA initialization, and allow the fuse read
and write functions to be called without using DMA before the DMA
initialization has been completed. Access to the fuses before APBDMA
is initialized won't hit the hardware bug because nothing else can be
using DMA.

The Tegra PMC (Power Management Controller) interfaces with an external
PMU (Power Management Unit), and controls wake-up from sleep modes.
This initial binding is the bare minimum required to control the PMC's
inversion of the PMU's interrupt signal.

Add complete bindings to instantiate and configure the codec and
top-level audio complex on all currently supported boards using the
Tegra+WM8903 audio driver.
On those boards, disable the I2S2 controller since it isn't used.
On boards not using the WM8903 codec, disable all the audio devices;
they can be re-enabled once the relevant codec and ASoC machine drivers
have been ported to device-tree.

Linux uses two PMD entries for a PTE with the classic page table format,
covering 2MB range. However, the __pte_free_tlb() function only adds a
single TLB flush corresponding to 1MB range covering 'addr'. On
Cortex-A15, level 1 entries can be cached by the TLB independently of
the level 2 entries and without additional flushing a PMD entry would be
left pointing at the wrong PTE. The patch limits the TLB flushing range
to two 4KB pages around the 1MB boundary within PMD.

Commit 89d6c0b5 ("perf, arch: Add generic NODE cache events") added
empty NODE event definitions for the ARM PMU implementations. This was
merged along with Cortex-A5 and Cortex-A15 PMU support, so they missed
out on the original patch.
This patch adds the empty definitions to Cortex-A5 and Cortex-A15.

If we are context switched whilst copying into a thread's
vfp_hard_struct then the partial copy may be corrupted by the VFP
context switching code (see "ARM: vfp: flush thread hwstate before
restoring context from sigframe").
This patch updates the ptrace VFP set code so that the thread state is
flushed before the copy, therefore disabling VFP and preventing
corruption from occurring.

In a preemptible kernel, vfp_set() can be preempted, causing the
hardware VFP context to be switched while the thread vfp state is
being read and modified. This leads to a race condition which can
cause the thread vfp state to become corrupted if lazy VFP context
save occurs due to preemption in between the time thread->vfpstate
is read and the time the modified state is written back.
This may occur if preemption occurs during the execution of a
ptrace() call which modifies the VFP register state of a thread.
Such instances should be very rare in most realistic scenarios --
none has been reported, so far as I am aware. Only uniprocessor
systems should be affected, since VFP context save is not currently
lazy in SMP kernels.
The problem was introduced by my earlier patch migrating to use
regsets to implement ptrace.
This patch does a vfp_sync_hwstate() before reading
thread->vfpstate, to make sure that the thread's VFP state is not
live in the hardware registers while the registers are modified.

Following execution of a signal handler, we currently restore the VFP
context from the ucontext in the signal frame. This involves copying
from the user stack into the current thread's vfp_hard_struct and then
flushing the new data out to the hardware registers.
This is problematic when using a preemptible kernel because we could be
context switched whilst updating the vfp_hard_struct. If the current
thread has made use of VFP since the last context switch, the VFP
notifier will copy from the hardware registers into the vfp_hard_struct,
overwriting any data that had been partially copied by the signal code.
Disabling preemption across copy_from_user calls is a terrible idea, so
instead we move the VFP thread flush *before* we update the
vfp_hard_struct. Since the flushing is performed lazily, this has the
effect of disabling VFP and clearing the CPU's VFP state pointer,
therefore preventing the thread from being updated with stale data on
the next context switch.

Clearly, an area for pfn 0x200, 16K can't ever satisfy a request for pfn
0xfffff. This happens because the changed if statement becomes:
if (0x00200 > 0xfffff ||
0xfffff000 + 0x400 + 0x1000-1 > 0x00200000 + 0x4000-1)
and therefore:
if (0x00200 > 0xfffff ||
0x000003ff > 0x00203fff)
The if condition fails, and so we _believe_ that the SRAM mapping fits
our request. Clearly that's totally bogus.
Moreover, the original premise of the 'fix' patch was wrong:

as the code immediately above this loop does:
size = PAGE_ALIGN(offset + size);

In order to keep the sensor's master clock frequency in valid range
when FIMC parent clock is xusbxti, the specified frequency must be
exactly 24MHZ, otherwise it's being set to too low value due to
rounding.

The real LCD resolution on Nuri is 1024x600, not 1280x800. This change
fixes the color distortion (green shadows) on half of the screen.
Also increase framebuffer virtual size for display panning support.

Fix up conflict due to arch/arm/mach-mx5/Kconfig having been merged into
mach-imx5 (commit 784a90c0a7: "ARM i.MX: Merge i.MX5 support into
mach-imx"), but the ARM_L1_CACHE_SHIFT_6 entry was moved to be driven by
the CPU_V7 logic from it in the old location in rmk's branch (commit

AT91 needed reset fixes which resulted in some minor code refactoring,
it also adds a feature-removal for one of their platforms for 3.4.

Commit 5a05a8200a ("davinci_emac:
use an unique MDIO bus name") introduced during the v3.3 merge
window updated the davinci mdio bus name to make it unique.
Update the bus name in board files which use DaVinci MDIO bus
to match the new name. Without this PHY is not detected with
error like:

Tested on DM365 and DA850 EVMs.

Commit 4a858cfc9a (arm: convert sysdev_class to a regular subsystem)
converted the samsung sysdevs into subsys_interface instances.
While the original add-function only had a (struct sys_device *)
parameter, the dev_add from subsys_interface needs

The common static default_i2c_data structure gets bus_num set by each
s3c_i2c?_set_platdata() call, except for s3c_i2c0_set_platdata(). Thus
if for instance s3c_i2c1_set_platdata() is called prior to
s3c_i2c0_set_platdata() the I2C0 controller has bus_num set to wrong value
of 1, i.e. the one from previous set_platdata call. Fix this by also setting
bus_num for I2C0.

When the S3C64xx CPUs were converted to clkdev mappings were added for the
I2C controllers on them. On S3C6410 a device name is specified for I2C
controller 1 but not for controller 0 which makes the code less robust as
we'll falsely return the clock for controller 0 if there's an error in the
request for controller 1.
Improve things by registering a device name for controller 0 as well. Due
to the fact that we change the numbering for controller 0 depending on if
we've registered controller 1 this requires an ifdef to choose the name.
