a2367db2ec dma: imx-dma: Fix kernel crash due to missing clock conversion
With the new i.MX clock infrastructure we need to request the dma clocks
seperately: ahb and ipg clocks.

This fixes the following kernel crash and make audio to be functional again:

1ff8df4f53 dma: sh: provide a migration path for slave drivers to stop using .private
This patch extends the sh dmaengine driver to support the preferred channel
selection and configuration method, instead of using the "private" field
from struct dma_chan. We add a standard filter function to be used by
slave drivers instead of implementing their own ones, and add support for
the DMA_SLAVE_CONFIG control operation, which must accompany the new
channel selection method. We still support the legacy .private channel
allocation method to cater for a smooth driver migration.

c2cdb7e4d1 dma: sh: use an integer slave ID to improve API compatibility
Initially struct shdma_slave has been introduced with the only member - an
unsigned slave ID - to describe common properties of DMA slaves in an
extensible way. However, experience shows, that a slave ID is indeed the
only parameter, needed to identify DMA slaves. This is also, what is used
by the core dmaengine API in struct dma_slave_config. We switch to using
the slave_id directly, instead of passing a pointer to struct shdma_slave
to improve compatibility with the core. We also make the slave_id signed
for easier error checking.

ecf90fbbdc dmaengine: shdma: prepare to stop using struct dma_chan::private
Using struct dma_chan::private is deprecated. To update the shdma driver to
stop using it we first have to eliminate internal runtime uses of it. After
that we will also be able to stop using it for channel configuration.

41c556a8cb dma: mxs-dma: Export missing symbols from mxs-dma.c
mxs-dma.c provides two functions mxs_dma_is_apbh and mxs_dma_is_apbx
which are used at least in mxs-mmc.c. Building mxs-mmc as module
fails due to those two symbols not being exported.

4a46ba36e2 dma: tegra: fix residual calculation for cyclic case
In cyclic mode of DMA, the byte transferred can be more
than the requested size and in this case, calculating
residuals based on the current position of DMA transfer to
bytes requested i.e. bytes required to transfer to reach
bytes requested from current DMA position.

Add support for cyclic DMA on sa11x0 platforms.  This follows the
discussed behaviour that the callback will be called at some point
after period expires, and may coalesce multiple period expiries into
one callback (due to the tasklet behaviour.)

The semantics now implemented are:

- If the cookie has completed successfully, the residue will be zero.
- If the cookie is in progress or the channel is paused, it will be the
  number of bytes yet to be transferred. [*]
- If the cookie is queued, it will be the number of bytes in the
  descriptor.

* - where this is the number of bytes yet to be transferred to/from
  RAM.

70f3ff434d dmaengine: PL08x: get rid of write only pool_ctr and free_txd locking
The free function says the pl08x lock should be taken before calling
it.  However, the DMA pool allocation/freeing is already properly
locked.  The only thing that would need this is pool_ctr, which
happens to be a write-only variable.

Let's get rid of this, and eliminate any need for additional locking
here.

06e885b735 dmaengine: PL08x: fix tx_status function to return correct residue
Now that we're converted to use the generic vchan support, we can fix
the residue return from tx_status to be compliant with dmaengine.  This
returns the number of bytes remaining for the _specified_ cookie, not
the number of bytes in all pending transfers on the channel.

a5a488db42 dmaengine: PL08x: rejig physical channel allocation
Rework the physical channel allocation mechanism to only allocate
physical channels to virtual channels when they're about to be used.
This eliminates all the complexity with holding channels while
descriptors are being prepared, which is completely unnecessary.

This also brings this driver to a state where the generic virtual DMA
code can be used with this driver, and opens up the possibility of
properly scheduling and prioritorising physical DMA channels to
virtual DMA channels.

As we no longer need to pass a descriptor to prep_phy_channel(), we
don't need to keep track of the descriptor which is waiting for a
channel to become available.  So let's get rid of it.

The runtime PM support conflicts with the generic AMBA bus PM, and also
causes a potential deadlock with the PL011 driver as it results in
interrupts being enabled beneath a spinlock.

I don't presently see any solution to this other than by removing the
runtime PM support entirely from the DMA engine driver.  Alternative
suggestions welcome.

Add support for cyclic DMA's periodic callbacks.  Drivers are expected
to call vchan_cyclic_callback() when a period has completed, which will
schedule the tasklet to make the callback into the driver.

As callbacks are made from tasklet context, it is important to realise
that we don't guarantee a callback for each completed period, but for
N completed periods where N may be greater than one.

it does not ack the transfer descriptor  after transfer stops.

fdec53d520 DMA: PL330: Fix racy mutex unlock
pl330_update() stores a pointer to the thrd->req that finished, which
contains a pointer to the corresponding pl330_req.  This is done with
the pl330_lock held.  Then, it iterates through the req_done list,
calling the callback for each of the requests that are done.  The
problem is that the driver releases the lock before calling the
callback for each of the callbacks.  pl330_submit_req() running in
another processor can then acquire the lock and insert another request
in one of the thrd->req that hasn't been processed yet, replacing the
pointer to pl330_req there.  When the callback returns in
pl330_update() and the next rqdone is popped from the list, it
dereferences the pl330_req pointer to the just scheduled pl330_req,
instead of the one that has finished, calling pl330 with the wrong r.

This patch fixes this by storing the pointer to pl330_req directly in
the list.

1dd1ea8eb4 dmaengine: at_hdmac: take maxburst from slave configuration
The maxburst/chunk size was taken from the private slave DMA data structure.
Use the common API provided by DMA_SLAVE_CONFIG to setup src/dst maxburst
values.
The ctrla field is not needed anymore in the slave private structure nor the
header constants that were located in an architecture specific directory.
The at91sam9g45_devices.c file that was using this platform data is also
modified to remove this now useless data.

fdaf9c4b22 dmaengine: Use dma_sg_len(sg) instead of sg->length
sg->length may or may not contain the length of the dma region to transfer,
depending on the architecture - dma_sg_len(sg) always will though. For the
architectures which use the drivers modified by this patch it probably is the
case that sg->length contains the dma transfer length. But to be consistent and
future proof change them to use dma_sg_len.

To quote Russel King:
	sg->length is meaningless to something performing DMA.

	In cases where sg_dma_len(sg) and sg->length are the same storage, then
	there's no problem. But scatterlists _can_ (and one some architectures) do
	split them - especially when you have an IOMMU which can allow you to
	combine a scatterlist into fewer entries.

	So, anything using sg->length for the size of a scatterlist's DMA transfer
	_after_ a call to dma_map_sg() is almost certainly buggy.

cbb796ccd8 dmaengine: Use sg_dma_address instead of sg_phys
dmaengine drivers should always use sg_dma_address instead of sg_phys to get the
addresses for the transfer from a sg element.

To quote Russel King:
	sg_phys(sg) of course has nothing to do with DMA addresses. It's the
	physical address _to the CPU_ of the memory associated with the scatterlist
	entry. That may, or may not have the same value for the DMA engine,
	particularly if IOMMUs are involved.

	And if these drivers are used on ARM, they must be fixed, sooner rather
	than later.  There's patches in the works which will mean we will end up
	with IOMMU support in the DMA mapping later, which means everything I've
	said above will become reality.

7560e3f358 dmaengine i.MX SDMA: do not depend on grouped clocks
the current i.MX clock support groups together unrelated clocks
to a single clock which is then used by the driver. This can't
be accomplished with the generic clock framework so we instead
request the individual clocks in the driver. For i.MX there are
generally three different clocks:

ipg: bus clock (needed to access registers)
ahb: dma relevant clock, sometimes referred to as hclk in the datasheet
per: bit clock, pixel clock

This patch changes the driver to request the individual clocks.
Currently all clk_get will get the same clock until the SoCs
are converted to the generic clock framework

d29bf01941 dma/amba-pl08x: check for terminal count status only
For some reason I can't figure out we're reading the PL080_INT_STATUS
register instead of PL080_TC_STATUS when checking for the terminal
count. The PL080_INT_STATUS is a logical OR between the error and
terminal count status register and may not report what we want it
to, especially if there is an error and a terminal count at the same
time and the former is not lowered in time for the check in the TC
register. Make sure we read what we're actually interested in.

can be directly stopped by issuing a SUSPEND_REQ on the EE
bits. There is no need to suspend the physical channel and
restart it.

Also, the support for pre-V2 hw is discontinued.

ed8b0d67f3 dmaengine: at_hdmac: remove clear-on-read in atc_dostart()
This loop on EBCISR register was designed to clear IRQ sources before enabling
a DMA channel. This register is clear-on-read so a race condition can appear if
another channel is already active and has just finished its transfer.
Removing this read on EBCISR is fixing the issue as there is no case where an IRQ
could be pending: we already make sure that this register is drained at probe()
time and during resume.

Many users of debugfs copy the implementation of default_open() when
they want to support a custom read/write function op.  This leads to a
proliferation of the default_open() implementation across the entire
tree.

3d9ea9e3af iop-adma: Corrected array overflow in RAID6 Xscale(R) test.
Bug: cppcheck reported overflow in array assignment (for loop walks
0 to IOP_ADMA_NUM_SRC_TEST+2, array size is IOP_ADMA_NUM_SRC_TEST).

Reported as: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42677

Test code pq_src array was grown by two elements to correspond with actual
usage (IOP_ADMA_NUM_SRC_TEST+2), stack consumption was kept constant by
modifying the pq_dest two element array which is only used when pq_src
is referenced up to IOP_ADMA_NUM_SRC_TEST elements into the address
of the new last two elements of the pq_src array. This is presumed to
be the original intent but would be reliant on compilers always having
pq_dest contiguous with the final element of pq_src.

Note: This is a re-send of a request for review from two weeks ago.

921de864b7 mxs-dma : rewrite the last parameter of mxs_dma_prep_slave_sg()
[1] Background :
    The GPMI does ECC read page operation with a DMA chain consist of three DMA
    Command Structures. The middle one of the chain is used to enable the BCH,
    and read out the NAND page.

    The WAIT4END(wait for command end) is a comunication signal between
    the GPMI and MXS-DMA.

[2] The current DMA code sets the WAIT4END bit at the last one, such as:

Move the header to a more common place.
The mxs dma engine is not only used in mx23/mx28, but also used
in mx50/mx6q.  It will also be used in the future chips.

Rename it to mxs-dma.h, and create a new folder include/linux/fsl/ to
store the Freescale's header files.

f606ab897b dmaengine: i.MX: Add support for interleaved transfers.
i.MX2 and i.MX1 chips have the possibility to do
interleaved transfers with two constraints:
- Only one chunk can be used (i.e. only 2D transfers are allowed).
- Only 2 interleaved configurations can be applied at the same time
for all channels.

Since this patch adds a new resource 'slots_2d' which is shared
by all the DMA channels and to avoid disgustin locking BUGs, the
'lock' member has been moved to the global 'imxdma_engine' structure.

2750293539 ioat: fix size of 'completion' for Xen
Starting with v3.2 Jonathan reports that Xen crashes loading the ioatdma
driver.  A debug run shows:

  ioatdma 0000:00:16.4: ioat_get_current_completion: phys_complete: 0xcc7000

...which shows that in this environment GFP_KERNEL memory may be backed
by a 64-bit dma address.  This breaks the driver's assumption that an
unsigned long should be able to contain the physical address for
descriptor memory.  Switch to dma_addr_t which beyond being the right
size, is the true type for the data i.e. an io-virtual address
inidicating the engine's last processed descriptor.

This patch introduces DMA_SLAVE_CONFIG to at_hdmac Atmel DMA driver.

It is needed to fix a regression in the use of atmel-mci.c driver on Atmel
AT91 platforms brouth by e2b35f3:
"dmaengine/dw_dmac: Fix dw_dmac user drivers to adapt to slave_config changes"

We remove some parts of the private structure "at_dma_slave" and use the
information provided by "struct dma_slave_config": source/destination
peripheral registers and access width.

AT_DMA_SLAVE_WIDTH_* values used previously are not needed anymore as we
now use the standard ones. Although some conversion functions are needed to
match register expected values.

Some AT91 sub-architecture specific files are slightly touched by this patch
but it cannot be split because it can break compilation.

For simple modules that contain a single amba_driver without any
additional setup code then ends up being a block of duplicated
boilerplate. This patch adds a new macro, module_amba_driver(),

b7d861d939 DMA: PL330: Merge PL330 driver into drivers/dma/
Currently there were two part of DMAC PL330 driver for
support old styled s3c-pl330 which has been merged into
drivers/dma/pl330.c driver. Actually, there is no reason
to separate them now.

Basically this patch merges arch/arm/common/pl330.c into
drivers/dma/pl330.c driver and removes useless exported
symbol, externed function and so on.

The newer pl330 driver tested on SMDKV310 and SMDK4212 boards

6365bead25 DMA: sa11x0: add SA-11x0 DMA driver
Add support for the SA-11x0 DMA driver, which replaces the private
API version in arch/arm/mach-sa1100/dma.c.

We model this as a set of virtual DMA channels, one for each request
signal, and assign the virtual DMA channel to a physical DMA channel
when there is work to be done.  This allows DMA users to claim their
channels, and hold them while not in use, without affecting the
availability of the physical channels.

Another advantage over this approach, compared to the private version,
is that a channel can be reconfigured on the fly without having to
release and re-request it - which for the IrDA driver, allows us to
use DMA for SIR mode transmit without eating up three physical
channels.  As IrDA is half-duplex, we actually only need one physical
channel, and this architecture allows us to achieve that.

On the device tree case the code bails out when the firmware name cannot be found
or if the firmware fails to be requested.

13ae246db4 includecheck: delete any duplicate instances of module.h
Different tree maintainers picked up independently generated
trivial compile fixes based on linux-next testing, resulting
in some cases where a file would have got more than one addition
of module.h once everything was all merged together.

Delete any duplicates so includecheck isn't complaining about
anything related to module.h/export.h changes.

bda3a47c88 at_hdmac: bugfix for enabling channel irq
commit 463894705e deleted redundant
chan_id and chancnt initialization in dma drivers as this is done
in dma_async_device_register().

However, atc_enable_irq() relied on chan_id set before registering
the device, what left only channel 0 functional for this driver.

This patch introduces atc_enable/disable_chan_irq() as a variant
of atc_enable/disable_irq() with the channel as explicit argument.

We don't need extra lock, so we use non-atomic bit ops to set/clear bits,

merge event_mask0 and event_mask1 into an array, it helps use bit ops.

It also fixs the issue:

sdmac->event_mask0 = 1 << sdmac->event_id0;
sdmac->event_mask1 = 1 << (sdmac->event_id0 - 32);

It event_id0 < 32, it shifts negative number. If event_id0 >= 32, it
shifts number >= sizeof(int). Both the cases behavior is undefined.

  On the latest tree my compiler has started giving the warning:

drivers/dma/dmatest.c:575:28: warning: the omitted middle operand in ?: will always be ?true?, suggest explicit middle operand [-Wparentheses]

The following patch fixes the missing middle clause with the same
fix that Nicolas Ferre used in the similar clauses.
(There seems to have been a race between him fixing that and
the extra clause going in a little later).

I don't actually know the dmatest code/structures, nor do I own
any hardware to test it on (assuming it needs a DMA engine);
 but this patch builds, the existing code is almost certainly
wrong and the fix is the same as the corresponding lines above it.

(WTH is x=y?:z legal C anyway?)

c11b46c32c dma: shdma: fix runtime PM: clear channel buffers on reset
On platforms, supporting power domains, if the domain, containing a DMAC
instance is powered down, the driver fails to resume correctly. On those
platforms DMAC channels have an additional CHCLR register for clearing
channel buffers. Using this register during runtime resume fixes the
problem.

This patch adds DMA_TRANS_NONE to dma_transfer_direction and
migrate the DMA_NONE use in mxs-dma to it.

7ad7a345a4 dma: mxs-dma: Don't use CLKGATE bits in CTRL0 to disable DMA channels
This is how the original Freescale code (unintentionally) worked,
because the code path which would have asserted the CLKGATE bit was
never actually reached in their code.
This fixes the nefarious "DMA timout" bug when multiple DMA channels
(e.g. GPMI NAND and MMC) are used at the same time.
If a better fix for this problem should be found, the clkgate handling
could be reinstated.

Also reverse the order of mxs_dma_disable_chan() and
mxs_dma_reset_chan() in mxs_dma_control() because mxs_dma_reset_chan()

93ed554412 DMA: PL330: Add device tree support
For PL330 dma controllers instantiated from device tree, the channel
lookup is based on phandle of the dma controller and dma request id
specified by the client node. During probe, the private data of each
channel of the controller is set to point to the device node of the
dma controller. The 'chan_id' of the each channel is used as the
dma request id.

Client driver requesting dma channels specify the phandle of the
dma controller and the request id. The pl330 filter function
converts the phandle to the device node pointer and matches that
with channel's private data. If a match is found, the request id
from the client node and the 'chan_id' of the channel is matched.
A channel is found if both the values match.

cd07251521 DMA: PL330: Infer transfer direction from transfer request instead of platform data
The transfer direction for a channel can be inferred from the transfer
request and the need for specifying transfer direction in platfrom data
can be eliminated. So the structure definition 'struct dma_pl330_peri'
is no longer required.

The channel's private data is set to point to a channel id specified in
the platform data (instead of an instance of type 'struct dma_pl330_peri').
The filter function is correspondingly modified to match the channel id.

With the 'struct dma_pl330_peri' removed from platform data, the dma
controller transfer capabilities cannot be inferred any more. Hence,
the dma controller capabilities is specified using platform data.

3506c0d507 DMA: PL330: Remove pm_runtime_xxx calls from pl330 probe/remove
amba_probe() now calls pm_runtime_get_noresume() and pm_runtime_enable()
for the devices before the device probe is called. Hence we don't need
to call pm_runtime_get_xxx and pm_runtime_enable() in device probe again.
In the same way, since amba_remove() calls the respective pm_runtime
functions, those functions need not be called from device remove.

This patch fixes following run time error with pl330 driver.

c99e784353 i.MX IPU DMA: Fix wrong burstsize settings
The burstsize (npb in struct chan_param_mem) is set in
ipu_ch_param_set_size() once. The number of allowed
pixels in a burst depend on the pixel format and the
rotation mode. For 16bit formats 16 pixels are allowed
whereas for 32bit formats only 8 pixels are allowed.
Set these values correctly in ipu_ch_param_set_size()
and do not overwrite them afterwards.
We do not support rotation right now, so ignore this
case.
This patch fixes the wrong burstsize setting of 16 pixels
for 32bpp.

ab59a510c6 IMX/SDMA : save the real count for one DMA transaction.
When we use the SDMA in the UART driver(such as imx6q), we will
meet one situation:
  Assume we set 64 bytes for the RX DMA buffer.
  The RX DMA buffer has received some data, but not full.
  An Aging DMA request will be received by the SDMA controller if we enable the
  IDDMAEN(UCR4[6]) in this case.

So the UART driver needs to know the count of the real received bytes,
and push them to upper layer.

Add two new fields to sdmac, and update the `residue` in sdma_tx_status().

28c7a19d23 dmaengine/ste_dma40: Add support to use lcla area from esram
This patch provides an option of having the lcla (link address)
in ESRAM instead of allocating it. The bool value (use_esram_lcla)
in the stedma40_platform_data if set to true, then the lcla
address would be taken from platform resources. Also, the
corresponding esram regulator is managed in the
suspend/resume functions.

61e183f830 dmaengine/dw_dmac: Reconfigure interrupt and chan_cfg register on resume
In S2R all DMA registers are reset by hardware and thus they are required to be
reprogrammed. The channels which aren't reprogrammed are channel configuration
and interrupt enable registers, which are currently programmed at chan_alloc
time.

This patch creates another routine to initialize a channel. It will try to
initialize channel on every dwc_dostart() call. If channel is already
initialised then it simply returns, otherwise it configures registers.

This routine will also initialize registers on wakeup from S2R, as we mark
channels as uninitialized on suspend.

adfa543e73 dmatest: don't use set_freezable_with_signal()
Commit 981ed70d8e (dmatest: make dmatest threads freezable) made
dmatest kthread use set_freezable_with_signal(); however, the
interface is scheduled to be removed in the next merge window.

The problem is that unlike userland tasks there's no default place
which handles signal pending state and it isn't clear who owns and/or
is responsible for clearing TIF_SIGPENDING.  For example, in the
current code, try_to_freeze() clears TIF_SIGPENDING but it isn't sure
whether it actually owns the TIF_SIGPENDING nor is it race-free -
ie. the task may continue to run with TIF_SIGPENDING set after the
freezable section.

Unfortunately, we don't have wait_for_completion_freezable_timeout().
This patch open codes it and uses wait_event_freezable_timeout()
instead and removes timeout reloading - wait_event_freezable_timeout()
won't return across freezing events (currently racy but fix scheduled)
and timer doesn't decrement while the task is in freezer.  Although
this does lose timer-reset-over-freezing, given that timeout is
supposed to be long enough and failure to finish inside is considered
irrecoverable, I don't think this is worth the complexity.

While at it, move completion to outer scope and explain that we're
ignoring dangling pointer problem after timeout.  This should give
slightly better chance at avoiding oops after timeout.

b14dab792d DMAEngine: Define interleaved transfer request api
Define a new api that could be used for doing fancy data transfers
like interleaved to contiguous copy and vice-versa.
Traditional SG_list based transfers tend to be very inefficient in
such cases as where the interleave and chunk are only a few bytes,
which call for a very condensed api to convey pattern of the transfer.
This api supports all 4 variants of scatter-gather and contiguous transfer.

Of course, neither can this api help transfers that don't lend to DMA by
nature, i.e, scattered tiny read/writes with no periodic pattern.

Also since now we support SLAVE channels that might not provide
device_prep_slave_sg callback but device_prep_interleaved_dma,
remove the BUG_ON check.

To support multi-size buffers in the mx3_camera V4L2 driver we have to be
able to stop DMA on a channel without releasing descriptors and completely

7a1cd9ad87 dma: shdma: transfer based runtime PM
Currently the shdma dmaengine driver uses runtime PM to save power, when
no channel on the specific controller is requested by a user. This patch
switches the driver to count individual DMA transfers. That way the
controller can be powered down between transfers, even if some of its
channels are in use.

This patch adds DMA_CYCLIC capability that is used for audio driver.
DMA driver activated with it reuses the dma requests that were submitted
through tx_submit().

ae43b886f1 DMA: PL330: Remove the start operation for handling DMA_TERMINATE_ALL command
Original code carries out the start operation after flush operation.
But start operation is not required for DMA_TERMINATE_ALL command.
So, this patch removes the unnecessary start operation and only carries out
the flush operation for handling DMA_TERMINATE_ALL command.

289b4e7a48 locking, dma, ipu: Annotate bank_lock as raw
The bank_lock can be taken in atomic context (irq handling)
and therefore cannot be preempted on -rt - annotate it.

In mainline this change documents the low level nature of
the lock - otherwise there's no functional difference. Lockdep
and Sparse checking will work as usual.

7703eac96a dmaengine: amba-pl08x: make filter check that the channel is owned by pl08x
Before converting the dma channel to our private data structure, first
check that the channel is indeed one which our driver registered.  We
do this by ensuring that the underlying device is bound to our driver.

This avoids potential oopses if we try to reference 'plchan->name'
against a foreign drivers dma channel.

The client list may exist in two lists at the same time. This makes free
fail since the same desc is freed multiple times. Remove desc from
client list when adding it to the pending queue. Move free of client owned
descriptors from free_dma() to terminate_all().
