The 'ath79_spi_txrx_mode0' function does not
set the SCK signal to LOW at the end of a word

On MX23 the XFER_COUNT part in ctrl0 field in DMA descriptor was
improperly OR'd during the construction of DMA descriptor chain, instead
of being freshly set. Because of that too many bytes were being
expected from SPI during the last DMA cycle. This caused a timeout
(SSP_TIMEOUT) to happen in the processing of the last DMA descriptor,
and thus reads and writes were failing. This is a fix for the problem,
by clearing XFER_COUNT bytes in ctrl0 before setting the new XFER_COUNT
for DMA descriptor.

The spi core make sure that each transfer structure have the proper
setting for bits_per_word before calling low level transfer APIs.
Hence it is no more require to check again in low level driver for
this field whether this is set correct or not. Removing such code
from low level driver.
The txx9 change also removes a test for bits_per_word set to 0, and
forcing it to 8 in that case. This can also be removed now since
spi_setup() ensures spi->bits_per_word is not zero.

Linux assigns a number to each spi_master in the system, but when the
platform used the device tree, the numbers are dynamically assigned and
are not predictable. In general this shouldn't matter since the kernel
doesn't use the bus number for anything other than matching a bus to
spi_boardinfo (not used for DT). However, sometimes userspace needs to
figure out which bus is which, so it makes sense to use the global
/aliases namespace to choose a specific bus number.
It is safe to derive the bus number from an alias because aliases will
never cause two buses to try and use the same bus number. (At one time
the cell-index property was used for this purpose, but cell-index has
the risk of an id collision).

The spi-pxa2xx-pci glue driver had to implement pxa_ssp_request()/free() in
order to support the spi-pxa2xx platform driver. Since the ACPI enabled
platforms can use the same platform driver we would need to implement
pxa_ssp_request()/free() in some central place that can be shared by the
ACPI and PCI glue code.
Instead of doing that we can make pxa_ssp_request()/free() to be available
only when CONFIG_ARCH_PXA is set. On other arches these are being stubbed
out in preference to passing the ssp_device from the platform data
directly.
We also change the SPI bus number to be taken from ssp->port_id instead of
platform device id. This way the supporting code that passes the ssp can
decide the number (or it can set it to the same as pdev->id).

In order to avoid constantly allocating and deallocating there is a fixed
buffer which spi_write_then_read() uses for transfers, with an early error
check to ensure that the transfer fits within the buffer. This limits the
size of transfers to this size, currently max(32, SMP_CACHE_BYTES).
Since we can dynamically allocate and in fact already have a fallback
to do so when there is contention for the fixed buffer remove this
restriction and instead dynamically allocate a suitably sized buffer if
the transfer won't fit.

Currently of_register_spi_devices() function registers all SPI devices,
independetly from their status property in device tree. According to
"ePAPR 1.1" spec, device should only be registered if there is no
"status" property, or it has "ok" (or "okay") value (see
of_device_is_available()). In case of "platform devices",
of_platform_device_create_pdata() checks for "status" and ensures
that disabled devices are not pupulated. But such check for SPI buses
was missing until now. Fix it.

This will allow to use gpio for chip select with no modification in the
driver binding
When use the cs-gpios, the gpio number will be passed via the cs_gpio field
and the number of chip select will automatically increased with max(hw cs, gpio cs).
So if for example the controller has 2 CS lines, and the cs-gpios
property looks like this:
cs-gpios = <&gpio1 0 0> <0> <&gpio1 1 0> <&gpio1 2 0>;
Then it should be configured so that num_chipselect = 4 with the
following mapping:
cs0 : &gpio1 0 0
cs1 : native
cs2 : &gpio1 1 0
cs3 : &gpio1 2 0

This reverts commit 688723 (spi/pl022: enable runtime PM) and commit
2fb30d (spi/pl022: fix spi-pl022 pm enable at probe).
Commit "spi/pl022: enable runtime PM" introduced runtime PM issues as it
interacted badly with the work Russell King had done to move core
runtime PM handling into the bus. Due to that commit, "spi/pl022: fix
spi-pl022 pm enable at probe" was merged to fix part of those issues.
Instead of adding another fix, let's clean up and revert everything
back to when it was already fine.

There is a subtle difference between dma_transfer_direction and
dma_data_direction: the former is used by the dmaengine framework,
while the latter is used by the dma-mapping API. Although the
purpose is comparable, the actual values are different and must
not be mixed. In this case, the driver just wants to use
dma_transfer_direction.
Without this patch, building s3c6400_defconfig results in:

This branch contains updates to OMAP and Marvell platforms (kirkwood,
dove, mvebu) that came in after we had done the big multiplatform merges,
so they were kept separate from the rest, and not separated into the
traditional topics of cleanup/driver/platform features.
For OMAP, the updates are:
- Runtime PM conversions for the GPMC and RNG IP blocks
- Preparation patches for the OMAP common clock framework conversion
- clkdev alias additions required by other drivers
- Performance Monitoring Unit (PMU) support for OMAP2, 3, and non-4430 OMAP4
- OMAP hwmod code and data improvements
- Preparation patches for the IOMMU runtime PM conversion
- Preparation patches for OMAP4 full-chip retention support
For Kirkwood/Dove/mvebu:
- New driver for "address decoder controller" for mvebu, which
is a piece of hardware that configures addressable devices and
peripherals. First user is the boot rom aperture on armada XP since
it is needed for SMP support.
- New device tree bindings for peripherals such as gpio-fan, iconnect
nand, mv_cesa and the above address decoder controller.
- Some defconfig updates, mostly to enable new DT boards and a few drivers.
- New drivers using the pincontrol subsystem for dove, kirkwood and mvebu
- New clean gpio driver for mvebu

This is a pretty significant branch. It's the introduction of the
first multiplatform support on ARM, and with this (and the later
branch) merged, it is now possible to build one kernel that contains
support for highbank, vexpress, mvebu, socfpga, and picoxcell. More
platforms will be convered over in the next few releases.
Two critical last things had to be done for this to be practical and
possible:
* Today each platform has its own include directory under
mach-<mach>/include/mach/*, and traditionally that is where a lot of
driver/platform shared definitions have gone, such as platform data
structures. They now need to move out to a common location instead,
and this branch moves a large number of those out to
include/linux/platform_data.
* Each platform used to list the device trees to compile for its
boards in mach-<mach>/Makefile.boot.
Both of the above changes will mean that there are some merge
conflicts to come (and some to resolve here). It's a one-time move and
once it settles in, we should be good for quite a while. Sorry for the
overhead.

As follow-up to "dt: introduce of_get_child_by_name to get child node by
name." patch, This patch removes some of the code duplication in the
driver by replacing it with of_get_child_by_name instead.

The current SPI driver has many issues. Examples are:
* Segfaulting on most transfers due to expecting all transfers to have
both RX and TX buffers.
* Hanging on TX transfers since the whole driver flow is driven by RX
DMA completion, but the HW is only told to enable RX for RX transfers.
* Use of clk_disable_unprepare() from atomic context.
* Once those and other minor issues are fixed, the driver still doesn't
actually work.
* The driver also implements a deprecated API to the SPI core.
For this reason, simply remove the driver completely. This has two
advantages:
1) This will remove the last use of Tegra's <mach/dma.h>, which will
allow that file to be removed, which is required for single zImage
work.
2) The downstream driver is significaly different from the current
code. I believe a patch to re-add the downstream driver (with
appropriate cleanup) will be much simpler to review if it's a new
file rather than randomly interspered with essentially unrelated
existing code.

There are SPI devices which need a SPI clock with active low polarity and
high inactive state.
Add the setting of the inactive state ECSPIx_CONFIGREG:SCLK CTL
according to the clock polarity ECSPIx_CONFIGREG:SCLK POL:
DT without "spi-cpol" = 0 = clock active high polarity = inactive state low
DT with "spi-cpol" = 1 = clock active low polarity = inactive state high

This factors out the resource handling in runtime
suspend/resume and also calls it from the ordinary suspend
and resume hooks.
The semantics require that ordinary PM op suspend is called
with runtime PM in resumed mode, so that ordinary suspend
can assume that it will e.g. decrease the clock reference
counter to 0, runtime resume having previously increased it
to 1.

Even with devicetree support, we needed platform data to provide some data,
leading to mixed device tree and platform data. This patch makes it possible to
provide all that information via device tree. Now, the data must be provided
via platform data _or_ device tree completely.
Only in case of DMA where a callback specification is necessary (dma_filter()),
platform data is the only option.

Amend the PL022 pin controller to optionally take a pin control
handle and set the state of the pins to "default" on boot and
runtime resume, and to "sleep" at runtime suspend. This way we
will dynamically save power on the SPI busses, for example some
electronic designs may be able to ground the pins when unused
instead of pull-up. Some pin controllers may want to set the
pins as wake-up sources when sleeping.
Effect on platforms using the PL022 driver:
- If the platform does not use pin control - no semantic effect,
the pinctrl stubs will kick in and resolve the situation.
- Platforms using this driver and have pin control but no
function defined for the PL022 need to either supply a
"default" function in their map or enable pinctrl dummies
so the driver is satisfied.
- Platforms using this driver with hogs for setting up the PL022
pin control - stop using hogs to take the pl022 pin control
handle, let the driver handle this.
I'be looked at some platforms that may be affected:
- SPEAr: appears to define the proper functions in their device
trees and not hogging them, so things should be smooth, the
driver will simply start to take its pins.
- Ux500: the proper function is defined and will be taken properly
by the driver. New sleep states introduced by a separate patch to
ux500 but no regression, since the default state is sufficient.
- U300: old hog deleted as part of this patch.
- LPC32xx: does not appear to be using pinctrl.
- ARM Integrator IMPD1, RealView & Versatile: does not use pinctrl.

From "Uwe Kleine-Knig" <u.kleine-koenig@pengutronix.de>:
this is the 2nd version of this series whose goal is to make struct
of_device_id.data const. Conceptually a driver must not modify the data
contained there so making it const is the right thing.
v1 of this series was sent with Message-id:
1342182734-321-1-git-send-email-y. Changes since then are:
- powerpc fixes
- several new consts that were found by Arnd that are possible after
patch 19.
Arnd suggested to take this series via arm-soc late for 3.6 in one go
because patch 19 depends on the former patches but is a precondition to
the latter and it fixes a few warnings. So getting it in via the
respective maintainer trees would need a much bigger coordination
effort. That means I prefer getting Acks over you taking the patch.
Vinod Koul already took
dmaengine: at_hdmac: add a few const qualifiers
that is in next-20120723 as 7fd63ccdad now. Vinod, I don't follow your
pull requests, but assuming you didn't let it already pull for 3.6 I
suggest you drop it from your queue and I just take your Ack.
This series was build tested for arm (all defconfigs) and powerpc (all
defconfigs and an allyesconfig) and grep didn't find more issues. As
before it introduces a warning in drivers/regulator/twl-regulator.c.
This driver does modify its .of_match_table when a device is bound which
doesn't fits the concept of independant devices. Arnd noticed another
new warning in drivers/scsi/qlogicpti.c that isn't that easy to resolve,
because the pointer to (now) const data is passed as first argument to
scsi_host_alloc. To fix that properly struct Scsi_Host.hostt needs to
get a const, too. Alternatively I could introduce a cast removing the
const, but I don't like that.

The new chip select handling via GPIO introduced a pointer computation bug:

doesn't point to the data immediately after the actual struct pl022 (as was
intended) but to a multiple of bytes after it because of the (int *) type.

This driver checks the length of transfer to be made and based
on this information, either chooses to transfer data via DMA or
PIO. Decrement this border further to gain better performace eg.
during SPI flash writes.

with a M25P80 flash clocked at 40MHz.

When doing long continuous transfer, eg. from SPI flash via /dev/mtd,
the driver dies. This is caused by a bug in the DMA chaining. Rework
the DMA transfer code so that this issue does not happen any longer.
This involves proper allocation of correct amount of sg-list members.
Also, this means proper creation of DMA descriptors. There is actually an
important catch to this, the data transfer descriptors must be interleaved
with PIO register write descriptor, otherwise the transfer stalls. This
can be done in one descriptor, but due to the limitation of the DMA API,
it's not possible.
It turns out that in order for the SPI DMA to properly support
continuous transfers longer than 65280 bytes, there are some very
important parts that were left out from the documentation about about
the PIO transfer that is used.
Firstly, the XFER_SIZE register is not written with the whole length
of a transfer, but is written by each and every chained descriptor
with the length of the descriptors data buffer.
Next, unlike the demo code supplied by FSL, which only writes one PIO
word per descriptor, this does not apply if the descriptors are chained,
since the XFER_SIZE register must be written. Therefore, it is essential
to use four PIO words, CTRL0, CMD0, CMD1, XFER_SIZE. CMD0 and CMD1 are
written with zero, since they don't apply. The DMA programs the PIO words
in an incrementing order, so four PIO words.
Finally, unlike the demo code supplied by FSL, the SSP_CTRL0_IGNORE_CRC
must not be set during the whole transfer, but it must be set only on the
last descriptor in the chain.
Lastly, this code lends code from drivers/mtd/nand/omap2.c, which solves
trouble when the buffer supplied to the DMA transfer was vmalloc()'d. So
with this patch, it's safe to use /dev/mtdblockX interface again.

The init_completion() call does reinit not only the variable carrying
the flag that the completion finished, but also initialized the
waitqueue associated with the completion. On the contrary, the
INIT_COMPLETION() call only reinits the flag.
In case there was anything still stuck in the waitqueue, subsequent call
to init_completion() would be able to create possible race condition. This
patch uses the proper function and moves init_completion() into .probe() call
of the driver, to be issued only once.
Note that such scenario is impossible, since two threads can never enter the
mxs_spi_txrx_dma(), since whole this section is protected by mutex in SPI core.
This by no means allows this issue to exit though.

The call sequence spi_alloc_master/spi_register_master/spi_unregister_master is
complete; it reduces the device reference count to zero, which and results in
device memory being freed. The subsequent call to spi_master_put is unnecessary
and results in an access to free memory. Drop it.

BCM6338 and BCM6348 have a message control register width of 8 bits, instead
of 16-bits like what the SPI driver assumes right now. Also the SPI message
type shift value of 14 is actually 6 for these SoCs.
This resulted in transmit FIFO corruption because we were writing 16-bits
to an 8-bits wide register, thus spanning on the first byte of the transmit
FIFO, which had already been filed in bcm63xx_spi_fill_txrx_fifo().
Fix this by passing the message control register width and message type
shift through platform data back to the SPI driver so that it can use
it properly.

The call to spi_unregister_master() in the device remove function frees device
memory, and with it any device local data. However, device local data is still
accessed after the call to spi_unregister_master().
Acquire a reference to the SPI device and release it after cleanup is complete

When a device tree definition os an s3c64xx SPI master is missing
a "controller-data" subnode, the newly added s3c64xx_get_slave_ctrldata
function might use uninitialized memory in place of that node,
which was correctly reported by gcc.
Without this patch, building s3c6400_defconfig results in:

Pull ARM DMA engine updates from Russell King:
"This looks scary at first glance, but what it is is:
- a rework of the sa11x0 DMA engine driver merged during the previous
cycle, to extract a common set of helper functions for DMA engine
implementations.
- conversion of amba-pl08x.c to use these helper functions.
- addition of OMAP DMA engine driver (using these helper functions),
and conversion of some of the OMAP DMA users to use DMA engine.
Nothing in the helper functions is ARM specific, so I hope that other
implementations can consolidate some of their code by making use of
these helpers.
This has been sitting in linux-next most of the merge cycle, and has
been tested by several OMAP folk. I've tested it on sa11x0 platforms,
and given it my best shot on my broken platforms which have the
amba-pl08x controller.

We are currently using an inferior or equal operator for comparing
the transfer frequency with the clock frequency table. Because of
this, we always end up selecting 20Mhz as a frequency, due to the
inequality transfer hz <= 20 Mhz being always true. Fix this by

WARNING: drivers/spi/built-in.o(.devinit.text+0x3c4): Section mismatch in reference from the function omap2_mcspi_probe() to the function .init.text:omap2_mcspi_master_setup()
The function __devinit omap2_mcspi_probe() references
a function __init omap2_mcspi_master_setup().
If omap2_mcspi_master_setup is only used by omap2_mcspi_probe then
annotate omap2_mcspi_master_setup with a matching annotation.
