um: reinstate kernel version in generated .config Commit 0954828fcbf3 ("kconfig: replace KERNELVERSION usage by the mainmenu's prompt") made the kernel version disappear from the generated .config file when configuring for UML. As UML's Kconfig doesn't have a mainmenu, kconfig falls back to the default string "Linux Kernel Configuration". Add a suitable mainmenu to the main UML Kconfig file to fix this. x86, um: get rid of arch/um/Kconfig.arch Teach scripts/kconfig/Makefile and top-level Makefile that arch/*/Makefile is allowed to say Kconfig := <whatever I want instead of arch/blah/Kconfig>. Rewrite arch/um/Kconfig and arch/um/Kconfig.<subarch> so that the latter would be top-level one (and include the pieces of the former). [PATCH] uml: support AES i586 crypto driver We want to make possible, for the user, to enable the i586 AES implementation. This requires a restructure. - Add a CONFIG_UML_X86 to notify that we are building a UML for i386. - Rename CONFIG_64_BIT to CONFIG_64BIT as is used for all other archs - Tell crypto/Kconfig that UML_X86 is as good as X86 - Tell it that it must exclude not X86_64 but 64BIT, which will give the same results. - Tell kbuild to descend down into arch/i386/crypto/ to build what's needed. um, x86-64: Fix UML build after adding CFI annotations to lib/rwsem_64.S arch/um/Kconfig.x86 has X86_32 but not X86_64 - that's resulting in asm/dwarf2.h producing the 32-bit (pushl_cfi & Co) macros instead of the 64-bit ones. um: Use RWSEM_GENERIC_SPINLOCK on x86 Commit d12337 (rwsem: Remove redundant asmregparm annotation) broke rwsem on UML. As we cannot compile UML with -mregparm=3 and keeping asmregparm only for UML is inadequate the easiest solution is using RWSEM_GENERIC_SPINLOCK. Thanks to Thomas Gleixner for the idea. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!

memory. All the memory that can't be mapped directly will be treated
as high memory.
